Zen Connections | Adoptee Yoga w/ Kara and Picnic

AKASF is collaborating with the wonderful Kara Dewhurst to bring you some summer outdoor yoga! This yoga session will involve a quick discussion followed by a physical practice. In addition to the yoga, for those who wish to enjoy the outdoors and shared company after the scheduled session, we invite you to join us for a casual picnic. Looking forward to hopefully seeing you there and getting our wellness on!

EVENT SCHEDULE

  • Yoga will start promptly at 11 AM, so please allow yourself time for parking and set up.
  • We will have a discussion about yoga from 11 AM to approximately 11:30 AM followed by a physical practice from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM.
  • Following the lesson, we will gather for a picnic. Anyone not joining for yoga is welcome to join the picnic at 12:30 PM.

DETAILS

  • No experience necessary for the yoga class.
  • Bring your own mat. No other props are needed, but you are welcome to bring a cushion or blanket if you have sensitive joints.
  • Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in. Layers are recommended as well as sunscreen and water.
  • Pets and kids are welcome. The yoga course is not suitable for young children, but there is a playground if your children can be supervised while you partake in yoga.
  • We recommend parking in one of the nearby public parking garages or taking public transit. It is accessible via the Powell Street BART/MUNI station and multiple other MUNI lines.
  • Feel free to bring food or beverages to share if you’re joining for the picnic. There is a Target and a Trader Joes nearby as well as many restaurants. We will have limited cooler space available.
  • Bathrooms are available inside the Metreon.

DIRECTIONS

  • The space is located between Howard and Folsom Streets and between 3rd and 4th Streets, but it is not located at street level.
  • To find us, you can locate the carousel at Howard and 4th, then follow the stairs up towards the Children’s Creativity Museum to the park. Please feel free to contact Kara at 267-242-6589 if you are lost.
